Hand drawn and damn amazing. I love the look of the "crayon" backgrounds on blu-ray. Simply wonderful.
The reviewer @ DVD Beaver, in saying "digital", may have been referring to PONYO being a 2K digital production (if IMDB's information is accurate) as opposed to originating on analog, photochemical 35mm film. However, the way the paragraph in question is written, it's tough to tell what the intended meaning of "digital" was.
Gary Tooze is incorrect calling this film digital animation. It was all hand drawn. The guy otherwise known as the reviewer on dvdbeaver.
"US BD has lossy dolby digital 5.1 ex (matrixed 6.1) @ 640 kbps as mentioned at Dvdbeaver."
I forgot to specify that Japanese audio is only lossy dd 5.1 ex.

I can't wait for the announcement of the audio specs for this (please, please) 6.1 DTS-HD MA original Japanese audio.
