This disc is finally out! Early word is that it looks and sounds pretty good, too
I describe this movie the same way I describe The Boondock Saints: A terrible movie with a huge following.
Media Blasters/Tokyo Shock always messes up their release dates. I hurried up and bought the "Death Trance" blu-ray because I couldn't believe it was actually available. I hope they don't screw around with the blu-ray release of "Death Kappa" on July 27th. The "Versus" film itself was never eye candy to begin with; hope the blu-ray is good. I like Ryuhei Kitamura's films; especially Versus, Sky High (Director's Cut version), "Azumi" and "Godzilla: Final Wars". His action scenes are fantastic. Besides, it is always nice to see Tak Sakaguchi in action. I heard the "Ichi The Killer" blu-ray is horrible. The "Death Trance" blu-ray is actually pretty decent considering it is a dark film most of the time. Media Blasters/Tokyo Shock should release "Gamera: The Brave", "Exte" aka "Ekusute" ("Hair Extensions"), the "One Missed Call" trilogy and "Visitor Q" on blu-ray. I did hear that "The Machine Girl" is coming out on blu-ray.
...still no release...
Hopefully a good transfer, Ichi the Killer looked like garbage.

Honestly, I find this movie and it's director to be highly overrated. The action is overly stylish and the editing is quite poor. Amateurish: the best way to describe this movie.
