Blu-ray.com has this as 1080i, which seems confirmed by people in their forums. And here I thought they'd fall back on good old fashioned subtitle issues when it came time to screw this release up.

I wouldn't worry too much about the release quality. IFC's Blu-rays are usually encoded and distributed by MPI Video, who do a nice job on Blu-ray, high bitrate video and lossless audio.

It's obviously not going to be one of the IFC/Criterion titles; it's a Korean film shot in China, combining the two major filmmaking countries that Criterion loathes the most into one film. You'd sooner see a Criterion Uwe Boll box set. Being breathtakingly late to the table with this release, IFC would have to put some real effort into this Blu-ray to compete with other countries and (let's be honest) illegal downloads. As they can't even spell the director's name right on their website for the film, and after one and a half years of squatting on the film they can't even manage to throw any sort of trailer together for it, it seems obvious that whatever we get from them on this title will be half-assed at best.

My money's on subtitle issues.
