Although there is some edge enhancement visible throughout it does not detract from what is mostly a high quality transfer. I listened to the 7.1 uncompressed track and it maintained a high standard throughout. I liked the film a lot, but thought the plot was a bit poorly expained at times. Donnie yen and zhao wei make a good team.
I too noticed the edge enhancement and actually wondered if this was a source issue because in all other respects the transfer is fantastic. The audio was also of very high quality.
The movie itself was also a big surprise. Of the recent batch of Hong Kong releases (Confucious, Little Big Soldier, Mulan) this was by far the pick of the bunch.
PQ is really poor for new HK film. There is thick edge enhancement present throughout the movie much like the original Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace.
I can confirm that it's region free.
According to YesAsia it will be region free. We shall see.
