I saw the screencaps in the link provided and let me just say the 2006 episodes, which are upscales, look awful, especially that first shot, where it looks like they tried to remove the grain where it was most likely intentional.
Compare the DVD: www.sos-brigade.de/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Haruhi_BD_Disc_1_01_DVD.png
and the BD: www.sos-brigade.de/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/Haruhi_BD_Disc_1_01_BD.png
The only things about them that looks good are the opening and ending and only because they were apparently re-animated in HD.
The 2009 episodes were HD and look way better.

So expensive! I could use that money to buy a PS3!

Do you have a source confirming English subtitles -cdjapan says no subs

It does have english subtitles, no worries there!

And it may look expensive, but compared to buying all the DVD's of both seasons + the other stuff included, would certainly be more than 500$, + we got amazon.co.jp doing a 26% discount on price!

And besides all that, it's jap quality, not like our countries releases for 30 bucks (complete seasons, obviously), you can't epxect good quality for just that. And I mean it seriously. For example, in Spain I bought The Ghost in the Shell 4 friggin times, as either the box contianing the disc or the disc itself were defective, in the end I bought the jap edition, it's like heaven and hell, for real. (depends on the country though, France has good editions, allthough they have the stupid belief that making "adaptations" is better than selling the original, so they end up fukin' up the series or show, like changing names (Pokemon for example). Aniway, overall they have good packages and quality [Exception with BDBOX of diebuster, it's exactly the same as the jap one])

In the end, jap originals are superior by far, and allthough the price is quite high, It's still worth it.

I really hope it will come with English Sub because it's the Same Editor as Kanon, Clannad,....
Still Expensive, but not too expensive for Both Seasons + Both Live Shows + Supplements !
