LoveHKFilm Review

This feel-good drama won Best Picture at the Japanese Academy Awards. A group of coal-miners daughters turn hula girls to save their town when the local mine closes. This blu-ray from Taiwan distributor Deltamac has couple of issues. The picture is often soft and has poor contrast at times. However, it's real highdef and not a DVD upconvert. More serious problem is with the English subtitles. About 1 hour into the movie, the English subtitles lose synchronization with the audio dialog. The subtitles are displayed ~ 7-10 sec after the corresponding dialog. This quickly becomes frustrating and annoying and make it difficult to recommend this release.
