Nausicaa was the same. I think Ponyo was too. It does make it difficult trying to guess what option and sub-option to select. I try to think of it as a game.

The disc is designed so that changing audio / subtitles requires doing it from the menu. During playback pop-up menu is available through Select key (not through pop-up menu key). And in English audio version pop-up menu can be used to turn off the Japanese subs that are on by default.

I played this in my region B PS3 and I cannot change audio and subtitles when the movie is playing, I have to go to the top menu in order to change them. I don't know if this is an error on my disc, or if the disc is actually designed that way. Has anyone tried this on their PS3?

It just arrived so I'll region test it as soon as I get home from work (9.30 am here).
The packaging is a little different to Nausicaa. It's not as thick and opens a little differently. Just as solid though. The pink is very strong. Not the color I would have chosen.
