Received my copy today and can confirm, that the BDs are in fact code A.

After some research/fishing around, I've found out that Sentai Filmworks is absolutely Notorious for releasing bad encodes. Well it seems like it's the same for a lot of r1 release companies but Sentai Filmworks and funimation particularly.

Nothing we can do about it though, besides paying $609 for the Proper quality Japan release by Pony Canyon. I'll be waiting till someone rips the discs so I can see for myself whether this is worth buying.

Holy Shit! I thought this was never going to get a reasonable priced release.... Anyone know the general quality of Sentai-filmworks's Blu-Ray releases? What kind of quality can we expect from this compared to the Japanese release?

Really? That's the same guy who told me that there would be no lock at all. That's exactly what he wrote: "The Blu-Ray will not be restricted."
Okay, this saves me some money until there is a region B release for Clannad ().

I just got an email from Sentai-filmworks Mike Bailif,f this will be locked to Region A only.

I wrote an e-mail to Sentai Filmworks about the region-lock, I got the reply that this release won't be locked at all. I hope they didn't lie to me.

Rumor is 2 BD50s for the whole series. 5.1 for both JP and US audio. Will probably look like crap because of this.
