This movie is cinematic gold! I dont know if this movie can claim to be the first in the heroic bloodshed genre but its certainly a classic movie that should be in any hong kong movies fans collection. The original dvd was very poor quality. This latest blu ray version is superior by a large margin. For once kam and ronson have gone to the trouble of getting rid of the usual dirt and lines which often are found on their releases. Outdoor scenes and close ups reveal some genuine hd class. Some colour boosting has probably been employed but it looks better for it. Frankly a hk movie of this vintage will never be faultless. The subtitles sadly have not been updated and contain the usual errors. Sound is not bad and the 7.1 mix is fairly lively. Centre channel dialoge levels often reveal the weakness of the original mix though. As good as you are likely to get for this movie so buy it!
