If you have further information about released (or announced) titles from Asia, region codes or got any suggestions, please feel free to contact me so this Guide can grow.

Looks like the last few copies of CJ Entertainment's Korean Blu-ray Disc releases of Bong Joon-Ho's Memories of Murder und Kim Ji-Woon's The Good, The Bad and the Weird went out of print.
YesAsia (and other retailers) are now listing re-releases of both films that come in standard Blu-ray Disc amaray cases instead of those nice digipaks like the previous special editions. But at least the prices remain the same...

British retailer Amazon.co.uk is currently having a small sale that includes several anime films and series on Blu-ray Disc. The best bargain in the sale is Shigurui (Death Frenzy) The Complete Series for GBP6,49 (~7,20EUR), that is identical (except for the packaging) with FUNimation's US release (see screenshots here) I bought a year ago for a lot more and still haven't seen yet...
For less that GBP10 you can also get Blood - The Last Vampire (GBP7,85), Afro Samurai S1 (GBP5,00), Afro Samurai - Resurrection (GBP7,85), Origin: Spirits Of The Past (GBP8,00), Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children (GBP9,45), Paprika (GBP7,97) and Tekkonkinkreet (GBP6,98) (a must-have!). For a few quids more there are also the complete Devil May Cry Series (GBP11,85) and the Ghost in the Shell 2.0 + Innocence box (GBP17,85).

Thanks to one of them, The Fanboy Review is able to give us an very positive early review on FUNimation's US Blu-ray Disc release of Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone. The disc package includes an insert that announces some more upcoming Blu-ray Disc releases of anime series from FUNimation:

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind to be Studio Ghiblis next Blu?
2 commentsTweet thisWhile I could just update the yesterday's article regarding this topic, I thought that this piece of news just deserves its own little entry. During an HDTV broadcast of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind it was announced that Hayao Miyazaki's 1984 masterpiece will be released on Blu-ray Disc in Japan this summer!
To give you a small hint of what at least to expect from those releases, check out these HD screenshots from the Joe Hisaishi in Budokan – Miyazaki Anime to Tomo ni Ayunda 25 Nenkan Blu-ray Disc. But I sure hope Disney Home Entertainment will use better source material for their upcoming releases.

Disney promises Studio Ghibli Classics in 2010

During an award ceremony for the Japanese Blu-ray Disc release of Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo, Walt Disney Home Entertainment made a very exciting announcement. As expected after the success of Ponyo on Blu-ray Disc, the studio announced to begin Blu-ray Disc releases of Studio Ghibli's classics (probably in Japan) in 2010! Specific titles haven't been mentioned, but based on some comments from Toshio Suzuki during his radio show, The Ghibli Blog assumes that My Neighbors The Yamadas (ホーホケキョとなりの山田くん) will be the second Blu-ray Disc from the studio.
