The Asian Blu-ray Guide lists Asian films from Hong Kong, China, Korea, Japan and Thailand as well as Anime series and movies that have been released (or are available for preorder) on Blu-ray Disc. Currently the guide covers 450 discs from countries all around the world, making it the most comprehensive and hopefully the most useful source for Asian entertainment on Blu-ray Disc.
All information about the listed releases haven been gathered from message boards, news sites and retailers across the net or have been contributed by kind visitors.
If you have further information about released (or announced) titles from Asia, region codes or got any suggestions, please feel free to contact me so this Guide can grow.

As Tears Go By Screenshots
0 commentsJust got my copy of Mega Star's As Tears Go By release. It's region free and includes English, Japanese and Chinese subtitles. As you can see in the screenshot gallery, the picture is pretty soft and it looks like some kind of noise reduction has been applied. Another thing is that the subtitles appear a bit late for my taste.

Gunbuster vs. Diebuster
0 commentsToday's Busting Friday! I've got my copy of the british Gunbuster vs. Diebuster Aim for the Top! The GATTAI!! Box from Amazon.co.uk today and can confirm that all three discs are region free! Since it's a worldwide Honneamise release, the discs should be the same in the USA, Japan and France. You can see some pictures of the box set over at the Affenheimtheater. Full resolution screenshot galleries are available as well.

Happy New Year from the Asian Blu-ray Guide!

Tears will go by in January 2009
0 commentsWong Kar-Wai fans rejoice! Mega Star will release As Tears Go By January 2, 2009 with English subtitles. The film starring Asian superstars Andy Lau and Meggie Cheung was part of Mega Star's Blu-ray announcement back in April 2008.
The Asian Blu-ray Guide Blog

Right after Christmas another rather big update for the Guide went online. All news entries are now available in the Asian Blu-ray Guide Blog. Perfect for those who don't want the complete front page to load when they just want to read the latest news entries. I can't guarantee daily updates, but I'll try my best to update the blog often. Like every self respected blog, the Asian Blu-ray Blog features a brand new tag system. Just click the keyword/tag below the entry to see all related discs and news entries.
Mei Ah ditches watermarks
0 commentsGood news, everyone! HK based distributor Mei Ah has kept it's word and has released Butterfly Lovers without the annoying HD watermark (pictured in this video). The notorious watermark has somehow spoiled their previous releases like the otherwise near perfect Red Cliff Part I.
Geneon Entertainment promotion Blu-ray Disc
0 commentsThe day before Christmas Geneon Entertainment played Santa in Tokyo's famous entertaniment district Akihabara and distributed a free promotion Blu-ray disc with clips from upcoming shows like To Aru Majutsu no Index, Kemeko Deluxe!, ef - a tale of memories, ef - a tale of melodies and Casshern Sins. The disc also shows some comparison shots between the SD and HD version of the upcoming Tenchi Muyo! movies.
Fortunately for us outside Japan, a friendly 2chan user got his hands on the disc and uploaded 130 screencaps for us to enjoy. According to AV Watch Geneon will continue to distribute these discs from December 28th to 30th during the 75th Winter Comiket (Comic Market) so go get yours if you're around and don't forget to bring one copy for you favourite Asian Blu-ray Guide guy! ![]()
