The Asian Blu-ray Guide lists Asian films from Hong Kong, China, Korea, Japan and Thailand as well as Anime series and movies that have been released (or are available for preorder) on Blu-ray Disc. Currently the guide covers 1703 discs from countries all around the world, making it the most comprehensive and hopefully the most useful source for Asian entertainment on Blu-ray Disc.
All information about the listed releases haven been gathered from message boards, news sites and retailers across the net or have been contributed by kind visitors.

New wave of Korean BD releases announced
5 commentsTweet thisThis morning/last night, K2DVD added some new Korean Blu-ray Disc releases to their site. According to these listings, CJ Entertainment will bring us The King and the Clown, Green Fish and Arahan while a still unnamed label will release Chan-wook Park's Oldboy and Untold Scandal. There are no release dates mentioned, but all discs are supposed to come with English subtitles.
Manga UK details Evangelion 1.11 Blu-ray Disc releases
4 commentsTweet thisDVD Times has posted some details on Manga Entertainment's upcoming UK Blu-ray Disc release of Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone. The first of four "rebuild" films based on Hideaki Anno's cult series will be released on April 26th as a standard single disc edition and a two disc Collector's Edition. Both editions will include the new 1.11 version and will probably be identical with FUNimation's BD release. The Collector's Edition will come in a special packaging with a bonus DVD that includes the "older" 1.01 version of the main feature and an extra booklet.

14 Blades: English Subtitled HK Release in April
1 commentTweet thisAnd another quick home video release of a Hong Kong titles that just opened in Asian cinemas last month. According to YesAsia, Daniel Lee's 14 Blades starring Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung and Vicky Zhao will be released in Hong Kong on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on April 14th.
Coming from Universe Laser, both releases will include English subtitles but people outside of Region A will have to wait for a confirmation if the Blu-ray Disc will be region locked (like Universe's last release, The Storm Warriors) or not.
Virtual Battles and Leaping Girls coming from CJ Entertainment
0 commentsTweet thisThe Korean retailer Yes24.com is now listing CJ Entertainment's Blu-ray Disc releases of two films from Mamoru Hosoda and Satoko Okudera. Their latest blockbuster anime Summer Wars and the 2006 The Girl Who Leapt through Time are supposed to hit Korean shelves on April, 30th.
Currently there's no information if these releases will include English subtitles, but fortunately Manga Entertainment UK has already announced English friendly releases for both films in 2010.

CJ Entertainment Re-releases OOP Titles

Looks like the last few copies of CJ Entertainment's Korean Blu-ray Disc releases of Bong Joon-Ho's Memories of Murder und Kim Ji-Woon's The Good, The Bad and the Weird went out of print.
YesAsia (and other retailers) are now listing re-releases of both films that come in standard Blu-ray Disc amaray cases instead of those nice digipaks like the previous special editions.But at least the prices remain the same...

British retailer Amazon.co.uk is currently having a small sale that includes several anime films and series on Blu-ray Disc. The best bargain in the sale is Shigurui (Death Frenzy) The Complete Series for GBP6,49 (~7,20EUR), that is identical (except for the packaging) with FUNimation's US release (see screenshots here) I bought a year ago for a lot more and still haven't seen yet...
For less that GBP10 you can also get Blood - The Last Vampire (GBP7,85), Afro Samurai S1 (GBP5,00), Afro Samurai - Resurrection (GBP7,85), Origin: Spirits Of The Past (GBP8,00), Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children (GBP9,45), Paprika (GBP7,97) and Tekkonkinkreet (GBP6,98) (a must-have!). For a few quids more there are also the complete Devil May Cry Series (GBP11,85) and the Ghost in the Shell 2.0 + Innocence box (GBP17,85).
Chow Yun-Fat starring Confucius Biopic in March
3 commentsTweet thisGotta love those Hong Kong based distributors. Only six weeks after the theatrical opening in China, Mei Ah announced the HK Blu-ray Disc (and DVD) release of Mei Hu's Confucius.
The biopic starring Chow Yun-Fat as the famous philosopher will be released on March 11th March 18th with English subtitles, according to DDDHouse and YesAsia the Blu-ray Disc will be codefree.
