Good news! dot-anime.us just answered my private message on the Anime on DVD forum and assured me that the first press edition of the US Akira Blu-ray release will not be an dot-anime.us (or any store) exclusive! So feel free to preorder from your favorite online retailer or hop on your bikes (it's ok to lower the rev below 5,000 while changing gears) when this anime classic hits the shelves February 24, 2009!
