FUNimation Acquires Eden of the East Movies
Yesterday FUNimation Entertainment announced that it has acquired the US distribution rights for the three Eden of the East movies from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex director Kenji Kamiyama.
The King of Eden and Paradise Lost, the two sequels to Production I.G's original eleven episodes long series and the compilation movie Air Communication are supposed to be released on Blu-ray Disc in 2011. The rights for the series have been acquired by FUNimation some time ago and a home video release has been mentioned in the insert included in the Evangelion 1.11 Blu-ray Disc package.
The King of Eden and Air Communication are already available on Blu-ray Disc in Japan since March 24th but unfortunately Kadokawa forgot to include English subtitles.
